IW Link Connection Manager

IW Link has created this instructional pages that will save you the hazles of configuring your computer manually.  This program will install the the necessary components including:

 

  • Microsoft's Dial Up Adapter
  • Dial Up Networking
  • TCP/IP Protocol
  • Connection Mnager Provided by IW Link

What the IW Link Connectrion Manager will not do is install a current, compatible browser or correct any modem configuration problems.  If you have modem configuration troubles,  you should contact your modem manufacturer for technical assistance.   If your browser is less than a version 3 browser,  it is time t upgrade.   The connection manager assumes that you have internet explorer installed on your achine and it will try and launch this program upon completing the connection with IW Link.  You will be taken directy to our website where you may view other tech support files.  This program is in BEtA Testing right now so if you discover any bugs, please send the bug reports to support@iwlink.com

Minimum System Requirements

  • Windows 95,98, NT 4.0, 3.51
  • Internet Explorer 3
  • 16mb RAM
  • 14.4 modem
  • 10mb Hard disk space
  • An active dialup account with IW Link

Downloadin Instructions

By clicking on the internet.exe link below your system should start a download of IW Link Connection Manager. Then continue working with step number 4 from the IW Link Connection Manger Instruction below.

 

IW Link Connection Manager Instalation

If you were able to obtain an IW Link CD or diskette;  please follow the intructions below to properly install the IW Link Connection Manager in your PC.  If you have not downloaded it yet, please click here.

 

1. Click on the START button.

2. Next, click on RUN.

 

3. Type,  A:\Internet.exe  In the OPEN field.

 

4.Click YES when it prompts you if you want to install the IW Link Connection Manager

5. Please read the Terms and Conditions the...

  • If you do not agree please click on NO.
  • If you do agree please click on YES.

6. When setup asks you what directory you want to install the Connection Manager in just click on OK.picturecm6.GIF (4874 bytes)

 

7.  When setup tells you the directory does not exists, do you wanto to create it?   Click on YES

8. Next a window appears telling you that Setup has finished installing the IW Link Connection Manager. Click on OK

9. You should now see an icon on your desktop called IW Link Connection Manager.   Please double click on it.

 

10.  After you open the IW Link Connection Manager 1 of 2 windows will appear.

    1.  Click on Yes if the following window appears.

    2. Click on the properties or settings button which will be located at the bottom section of this window.

After pressing on the properties or setting button the window below should be the next one to open.  Now, press on the first phone book button. which is located at the right hand side of  phone number.   Make sure you select the area code and the corresponding telephone number which will be local to your residential area.  If you are not sure of the number you have selected;  you can always verify the number by pressing 0,  and asking your telephone operator if the number you have chosen is local to your area.

Under Service Type make sure modem is typed inside the box.  Then, make sure is says; United States of America (1) under the Country or region box. Make sure that under State or Province you select your correct area code or the area code nearest to your residential area.  You can select your area code by pressing on the drop-down menu which is located at the right end of the box.  After you select the area code a series of telephone numbers will appear under Access numbers,  make sure that you select the number that belongs to the city you live in or the city nearest to your area.  After you have selected the area code as well as the number make sure the city and the phone number you chose are highlighted the same way that the example shows.  Then you can continue by pressing the OK button.

After pressing the OK button you should have been back at the Connection Manager window.  Then, press the phone book button for the back up number and repeat the same steps that you performed for the phone number.  Remember to make sure you have selected the back up number which is nearest to your residential area then click OK.

You should now be back at the user name and password window.  Make sure you have spelled correctly your user nama as well as your password;  remember that every letter should be typed in lower case.  After your are sure that you have correctly spelled your user name and password that your selected; continue pressing the connect button to obtain a successful connection.  If this instructions were followed correctly;  you should not have any problems getting a successful connection to the Internet.
